1880

Constituent assembly of the Austrian Fishing Club on 16th February under the patronage of Kronprinz Rudolf, 1st president Ernst Graf Hoyos-Sprinzenstein.

1885 Issue of the first Reichsfischereigesetz (imperial fishing law) on handing over a petition to the parliament of the Reichsrat .
1886 Construction of an incubator unit at Kirchberg at the river Pielach.
1890 Max of Borne, the German author of the „Taschenbuch der Angelfischerei“, a reference book on fishing – having reached its 18th edition so far – is appointed honorary member of the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG) for his engagement in connection with the formation of fishing areas in accordance with the enforcement rules pertaining to the federal fishing law for Lower Austria and as co-founder of the regional fishing area associations of Lower Austria.
1896 Prinz Johann of Schwarzenberg becomes 3rd president of the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG).
1903 Issue of the „Österreichische Fischereizeitung“ (Austrian Fishing Paper)
1904 25-years´anniversary Emperor Franz Joseph I grants the privilege to place „kaiserlich – königlich“(„imperial - royal“) in front of the name of the association, then called „K.k. Österreichische Fischerei-Gesellschaft“ („Imperial - Royal Austrian Fishing Association“).
1907 The „Österreichische Fischereizeitung“ is awarded a prize on the occasion of the „International Exhibition“ in Milan.
1908 Contacts with the US Government for the purchase of eggs of the rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss; WALBAUM 1792)
1912 Presentation of an assessment in connection with the governmental draft version for the new water law.
1915 Initiation of a campaign to employ war disabled in fish factories.
1918 Changing the name of the association to „Deutschösterreichische Fischerei-Gesellschaft“ („German-Austrian Fishing Association“). The premises are moved to Elisabethstrasse 22, 1010 Vienna, the present headquarters of the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG).
1919 Appointment of a special committee for the elaboration of a draft version of a new fishing law. Installation of a „chair for hydrobiology and fishing economy“ at the Hochschule für Bodenkultur.
1931 Issue of the book „Die Kunst und die Grundlagen des Fliegenfischens“ („Art and Basic Principles of Fly Fishing“) by Dr. Adolf Stölzle and Dr. Karl Salomon published by the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG) itself.
1934 Asuming the function of a regional fishing association for Lower Austria.
1939 The „Österreichische Fischerei-Zeitung“ (Austrian fishing magazine) is forced to cease its publication.
1962 Founding of an association against the imminent project „Erlauf – Thormäuer“; first actions to prevent the construction of a storage power station „Presceny-Klause“ at Salza – Gschöder.
1967 Power station project „Erlauf – Thormäuer“ can be averted.
1970 Founding of the committee „Save the Steyrtal“.
1977 Starting fish-biologically based studies in connection with 10 rivers of the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG), specially selected.
1980 Centenary in the presence of Min. Dr. Salcher and Prof. Dr. Konrad Lorenz, the latter making the main speech on this special occasion.
1980-1990 Project „in-between limit“ in collaboration with the Hochschule für Bodenkultur; Institute for Hydrobiology. Supportive project for Danube salmons at the river Pielach; recolonization in order to get reproductive fish stock – on the initiative of Adalbert Grasmück; support of Austrian fish breeders; special support in connection with rebreeding domestic brown trout and graylings from rivers of similar chemical
composition. Reopening of the back waters Orth/Donau, Grimsing near Emmersdorf and restoration of their original state. Cooperation on the redevelopment programe for the Old Danube in Vienna. Construction of nature-like by-pass channels, their reactivation, planning and partly financing. Cooperation and support in connection with the exhibition „Fischerei Einst and Jetzt“(„Fishing past and present“) in the Schloßmuseum at Orth/Donau. Lay-out of the catalogue on fishing by Ing. Michael SCHREMSER. First claim for a protective area for Danube salmons at the river Pielach. Inaugural member of the „Kuratorium für Fischerei- und Gewässerschutz (ÖKF) – Dachverband österreichischer Angelvereine“ (committee for the protection of fishery and rivers – umbrella organisation of the Austrian fishing associations) Members of the board of the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFG) have been looking after the interests of fishing in Vienna , Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria since 1880. They are members of the 5 fishing area associations of Lower Austria and members in 3 associations in Upper Austria as well as in the regional fishing association in Lower Austria, in the Styrian regional fishing association as well as in the committee for the protection of fishing areas and rivers (ÖKF) nationwide (see above) and in the Austrian Fishing Association (ÖFV).
1990 Amendment of the law pertaining to water and waterways of 1959, essentially influenced by § 15 WRG. 125 years of care and attention.
