The river Weiten is a silicate river with natural reproduction
of the brown trout due to the vast catchment area of the Schwarzaubach
and the Heiligenblutbach (weir brook) The structures are acceptable
to a large extent and wherever regulation measures had to be taken,
they had been carried out in consideration of nature protection.
Only within Weiten, there is a badly regulated part which is, however,
gradually being restored.
The area begins at the bridge in the village of „Am Schuß“
and ends at the mouth of the Schwarzaubach at Eitenthal (marked
by resp. boards). The fish stock of the river Weiten comprises 70%
of brown trout and 30% of rainbow trout. Only the rainbow trout
is being stocked in order to extend the fly fishing season!
Admissible fishing tackle is the fly rod with artificial fly! The
number of licenses is strictly limited.
Members and guests may obtain day licenses from May 1st to October
15th. For annual season licensees, the fishing season starts on
March 16th, ending on December 31st.
It is necessary to have an official fishing-or guest license for
Lower Austria. |
