The river Kleine Krems, 14km long and 5-7m wide, is a feeding
tributary of the river Große Krems on the right-hand bank
near the village of Kottes, similar in character, and crosses wooded,
sparsely populated hilly country in northern Lower Austria.
This river whose banks have to a great extent been left untouched
is meandering through a region hardly exploited by agriculture and
forestry, of sometimes gorge-like character.
The fish stock is dominated by an especially beautiful type of
brown trout with the rainbow trout representing here a minority.
It is compulsory to have an official fishing- or guest license
for Lower Austria.
