The three river sections of Wang, Steinakirchen and Wieselburg
comprise the river Kleine Erlauf from Hörhag (marked about
1 km above Randegg by respective boards), downstream until it flows
into the river Große Erlauf.
Each of these sections is about 10 km long, especially suitable
for fly fishing. The river Kleine Erlauf is a medium-size river
at the foothills of the Alps, approx. 8m (upper reaches) to 14m
(lower reaches) wide.
The fisherman is confronted with quickly flowing sections and quiet
regions respectively. The entire river length is characterized by
special meandering. The measures necessary in connection with the
river regulation from the point of view of water supply and distribution
were carried out in a way as to preserve the natural path of the
river as far as possible by using big stones for the reinforcement
of the river bank.
The natural fish stock includes brown-and rainbow trout and graylings.
It is compulsory to have an official fishing-or guest license for
Lower Austria.
