Großer Kamp / Stausee Thurnberg

This area which is to a great extent similar to fiord landscape reaches from the pool of the electric power station turbine above Krumau as far as the confluence with the Töbernitzbach (brook „Töbernitz“) at Wegscheid. The respective borders are marked by special boards. The flowing sections of the river Kamp are easily accessible and mainly habited by brown trout. The reservoir itself is famous for its strong pikes, mainly living on the many whitefish and perches.

The fish stock also comprises carps, tenches, whitefish (Maräne) and rainbow trout. At Krumau there are many places where boats can be hired and where day-, weekly- and monthly licenses are obtainable. The official fishing license for Lower Austria is also available there as well as from several other sales points round the reservoir.

The lovely natural landscape can be enjoyed by a number of nice foot paths. Even persons not occupied with fishing are able to choose among a variety of leisure activities. Many a tavern welcomes you to stay.

It is compulsory to have an official fishing- or guest license for Lower Austria.
