Being a right-hand bank tributary for the river Feistritz; the Gasenbach is app. 12km long and about 4-6m wide.

The fish stock comprises brown trout and rainbow trout. Fishing is by fly rod as well as spinning rod (from September 16th fly rod only) Only annual season licenses are permitted.

It is compulsory to have an official fishing- or guest license for Styria.
