| The Danube area in the Strudengau in Lower Austria extends along
the right-hand bank, beginning below the road bridge at Grein.
This 4,9 km long section, comprising 75 ha altogether, has got
3 back water areas along the flowing water section and 2 back water
areas in the Isle of Wörth, to be reached by boat. The area
ends below the eddy of the Danube near St. Nikola (kilometer 2075,5).
The flowing water section provides a habitat for all types of fish
to be found in the Danube, whereas pike perches and carps are prevailing
in the back water areas. The river bank of the Danube is well accessible
by a nice path open to traffic allowing comfortable fishing.
Tourists are able to obtain day licenses from 1st June to 30th
September (until October 31st for our members). From October 15th
especially tough guys are able to obtain a day license for Danube
salmons, valid for all Danube areas, fishing in back water, however,
excepted.
The large number of taverns within the area makes it possible to
end a recreative fishing day with a substantial meal in this lovely
landscape. It is compulsory to have an official fishing- or guest
license for Lower Austria. |
