Danube near Emmersdorf
and Emmersdorf Reservoir area

Emmersdorf is a classical Danube area , 207 ha expanse, 9,9 km in length; about 80 ha of it being back water region with the artificial water pools as a result of the construction of the power station, 30ha reservoir area and about 100ha free flowing water with ample structuring and excellent fish stock. The area begins at the Ebersdorf-Graben (marked by respective boards) and ends at the bridge across the Danube below Melk.

For this area there exists a license only valid for the reservoir as far as the beginning of the upper range of the power station. The number of fish corresponds to the Danube fish stock with carps, pikes and wels being maintained by stocking. As to carps they are stocked as wild carps at about 50% , the rest are breeding carps, stocked up to a maximum of 2-sö (2 summers` age).

The reproduction of pike perches in this area is still satisfactory and therefore needs no stocking! The number of licenses to be granted is strictly limited. Day licenses are available for tourists from June 1st to September 30th (until October 31st for our members). From October 15th especially tough guys are able to obtain a day license for Danube salmons valid for all Danube areas , fishing in back water, however, excepted.

It is compulsory to have an official fishing- or guest license for the federal province of Lower Austria.
